Students will have written assignments from time to time. Written assignments could include, music theory worksheets, rhythm and counting worksheets, concert reviews, in class rehearsal reviews, and practice sheets. Class time will be provided for students to work and get help with assignments. Some assignments will need to be completed at home. Each written assignment will be worth 10 points.
Play tests will happen in class as a live play test, or as a video recorded play test. Students will be allowed to retake play tests to improve a score. Each play test will be worth 10-20 points.
All students are expected to be at all concerts. We will play our very best when everyone on our team is at the concert. An unexcused absence for a concert could reduce a student’s grade by 2 letter grades. An excused absence would be the following: If you have a prior commitment (before you received the orchestra concert calendar) that is unavoidable and you need to miss a concert, please notify Ms. Francis as soon as possible. If a student is ill and cannot perform in the concert, please notify Ms. Francis as soon as possible. If a student is not able to attend a performance, and it is an excused absence, advance parent notification is required. The student will have to turn in a video recording of him/herself performing the concert music. Each performance will be worth 100 points
